Meehan's Public House - Midwtown at Atlantic Station

This location of Meehan's Public House can be found at 232 19th St NW, Atlanta GA 30363 in Atlantic Station between Cafe Nineteen and Z-Gallerie by Central Park. This is a woody, dark and wonderfully moody Irish Pub concept that provides viands including various beers (bitters) and pub-styled food. They also have an extensive menu of the hard stuff with several Irish Whiskies, which you would expect, no?

I've had the occasion to visit this location on several occasions - generally I go to the older location in Sandy Springs (they have an awesome deck to enjoy the warm evenings) but this one isn't half bad at all. This place is all atmosphere and pleasant conversation with good service and awesome drink. There are a few MeetUp groups to which I'm a member that have reserved sections of Meehan's for their various shenanigans (I'm using the tongue-in-cheek version of the term here so don't take it the wrong way). Generally a draft of bitters or two are provided and maybe some apps while you network with other technology people.

The menu is extensive enough to provide enough variety to satisfy the most discriminating palate - prices are a bit on the high side but that's typical of location and style of the place - seems you have to pay extra for a little culture.

Of course the main reason you go to Meehan's is for the drink, but there are some decent items on the menu. I've really very fond of the crispy pub chips and sweet potato fries, but try not to eat too many to reserve the calories for the beer. I'd be even fatter if I indulged on every occasion. I'm also a fan of their beery onion rings.

For food, I try to stick with more "traditional" pub offerings like the bangers-and-mash or shepard's pie but have been known to order a burger or two. My favorite on the menu is the fish-and-chips, appropriately made with cod - I've always received to delicious pieces and plank-style fries - make sure you eat these while they're hot to get the full effect.

I'd like at some point to do more than try the corn-beef and hash (I've only had a taste from their brunch menu) - perhaps that's in my future?
