Henry's Midtown Tavern is the 8th of 8 stops as part of
"Eat the Peachtree 2015 - Electric Boogaloo!" - this is the return of the world's largest world's largest
10K-themed pub crawl. 10 8 clicks, 10 8 stops, 10 8 dishes, 10 8 drinks. 1 epic
afternoon. Locate all the
posts along with an intro if you search my blog with ETP2015. We walked
from restaurant to restaurant in search of the best flavors and drinking
venues in Atlanta, while enjoying the same sights as you would while
running the Peachtree Road Race.
You can find Henry's at 132 10th St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 on the left driving towards Piedmont Park. This used to be the location of Jock's and Jill's back in the day. The bar is extensive and well maintained with great outdoor seating.
As the last location on our ETP 2015 Itinerary, we sat and enjoyed the air conditioning and watched the opening of the Women's World Cup on several of the many flat panel TVs littered throughout the space. The crowd here was very enthusiastic and enthralled by what was happening on screen.
The interior is quite a bit nicer than the exterior with higher end finishes and more upscale furnishings, atypical of a pub.
The menu is fairly extensive with many pub-food style options. After looking things over and deciding to skip the hotdogs, we settled on some apps.
We also enjoyed a few cocktails, of course.
For apps we did the parmesian fries and the chili fries. While these were OK, they weren't anything special, pretty much typical bar food. They can on waxed paper atop pie pans. The parmesian fries were served with two sauces, a spicy ketchup (it wasn't very spicy nor very sweet) and a garlic aioli.
As the final stop, we entertained the idea of heading over to Takorea for one final swig of liquor and juicy Korean BBQ taco, but then decided to call it a day. I liked this venue quite a bit and could see myself having quite a few cocktails. Unfortunately we were all fairly spent by the time we got here (did I mention it was hot?) and with it being a school day decided not to "take it to 11." It was about 7:30 PM or so when we completed ETP 2015!
So once again, it's with a heartfelt and slightly sad "goodbye" and hugs all around as we went our various map directions homeward bound.
