Luckys Burger and Brew - Brookhaven - Atlanta Georgia

You can find Lucky's Burger & Brew at 305 Brookhaven Avenue Suite 1250, Atlanta, GA 30319 at the base of the building across from Costco in Town Brookhaven to the right of LA Fitness. There's limited parking out front but I've found it easier to park at Costco and walk across the street unless you are very lucky (heh).

I discovered Lucky's quite by accident while in the area one evening shopping at Costco. I've since eaten here twice and both times had an awesome meal with great service. Lucky's Burger & Brew is a small local chain with locations in Decatur, in Brookhaven and the original location in Roswell - I haven't eaten at the other locations, but from what I read from the menu and at the Brookhaven location, the restaurants get their name from "Lucky" the owner's dog - and at Roswell location is pet friendly (not sure about this location but presumably you can bring your dog and sit on the patio).

Lucky's if fairly easy to locate, especially at night by the white lettering above the glass and stacked stone facade - during the day look for the red awning. Outside there's usually a menu board and this evening featured drafts of Creature Comforts - this alone sold me on the restaurant. The restaurant has a friendly interior with corrugated sheet metal wrapping the bar (so a bit of an industrial look) with a picture of Lucky on the wall to one side. TVs are suspended above the bar and there are both short tables in the main dining area and tall tables along the window. Both times I visited we were immediately seated and provided menus and a drink order was quick to the table - my selection was of course the very delicious Creature Comforts Tropicalia.

Lucky's straddles that line between the gourmet burger (think Flip) and the yummy everything goes burger (think Grindhouse) where you still order at the table and good a good quality burger, but you're not paying an arm-and-a-leg for the service. They also have an awesome beer menu with many fine local craft beers represented. The dinner menu boasts Starters, Salads, Wings, Soup (SOD plus chili), Burgers, "Different Breeds" (chicken, turkey and fish sandwich options), Sides and Desserts. There's also "The Grim Reaper" at $40 for 4 Challengers or $10 for each additional that includes: 4 lb Burger patty, 8 slices American cheese, 12 strips Applewood smoked bacon, 7 fried eggs, mound of onion rings and mayo served on a challah bun, however they need a 24 hour advance notice if you want this behemoth. I'd like to get together a group and give it a whirl - let me know if you want to give it a go.

We started with a side of very good fried pickles - these were served with Ranch Dressing. They could have used a bit more kick - I'd recommend something spicier if they have it, but for us the creamy ranch worked well with the slightly salty and hot vinegary pickles so yes, if you like fried pickles these are a good option.

After a very short wait the burgers arrived at the table (as did a second pint of Tropicalia). My friend Arvind went with a basic double cheeseburger (the Double Stacker) with a side of fries. I went with the Chihuahua (many of the burgers have dog-themes) - topped with chopped green chilies, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo and guacamole. It was delicious - I do wish it had a bit more heat, perhaps some jalapenos (I'll order a side the next time). I twas also cooked a perfect medium rare , which is my preference. I also had the fries.

Overall service was awesome and fast and the manager came by to make sure we were doing OK. Both times I've eaten here I had an great experience.
